The MOHSTEN Ring Resizing Guide

At MOHSTEN, we believe your jewellery should be a personal signature, sculptural, striking, and meticulously crafted to be lived in. A modern heirloom requires a flawless fit to move effortlessly with you through the everyday.

Because choosing the exact ring size can occasionally be a game of subtle guesswork, especially when planning a surprise proposal, we offer One Complimentary Ring Resize for all eligible engagement rings and wedding bands within the first 12 months of your ring’s completion.

Whether your piece features a bold lab-grown diamond, a rare natural gemstone, or a solid gold architectural band, our master goldsmithing team is dedicated to securing its structural integrity and perfect balance.

Our 12-Month Complimentary Resizing Policy

To ensure complete peace of mind, all custom-crafted MOHSTEN engagement rings and wedding bands qualify for one complimentary resize within 12 months of the order’s completion date, subject to design and metal style eligibility.

Please note that resizing requests made beyond the 12-month window, or after your complimentary resize has already been utilized, will incur a standard workshop configuration fee.

Guidelines by Style & Collection
  • Bespoke Engagement Rings: Most solitaire, trilogy, and classic claw-set designs can be adjusted easily within a standard size range. The specific resizing threshold varies depending on the band’s width and diamond accents.

  • Diamond Wedding Bands & Eternity Rings: Certain structural silhouettes, such as our Sierra East/West Oval Diamond Band or full-eternity styles, feature precise diamond placement around the entire band. These intricate settings cannot always be resized conventionally. If a size modification is required outside of safe structural limits, the ring may require a complete setting remake, which will incur an upfront remake fee.

  • Gents Bands & Signet Rings: Our Gents collection (including the Aoraki, Denali, and Kamen styles) comes with a one-time complimentary size replacement within the first year, provided the original ring is returned to our studio in unworn condition. Please note that alternative metals or complex multi-material settings will be assessed on a case-by-case basis by our workshop.

  • Preserving Custom Engravings: To protect personalized details, our goldsmiths generally position engravings strategically along the inner band. If a structural adjustment intersects with your custom engraving, our team will meticulously recreate the inscription at no additional charge.

How to Arrange Your Ring Resize

We offer two secure, premium pathways to adjust the fit of your piece:

1. Secure a Private Studio Appointment (Recommended)

Experience the intimate luxury of our private, architectural sanctuary in Remuera, Auckland. Booking a dedicated sizing appointment allows founders Jess and Hayley to personally measure your finger, ensuring a precise, comfortable fit before any workshop adjustments begin.

  • Timeline: A professional ring resize typically takes 2 to 3 business weeks from the date we receive the piece in our workshop.

2. Insured Courier Service (New Zealand-Wide)

If you reside outside of Auckland or are unable to visit our Remuera studio, you can arrange for your ring to be safely posted back to us via an insured, signature-required courier.

  • Process: Contact our client concierge team to receive secure shipping instructions and approval. For eligible complimentary resizes within the first 12 months, MOHSTEN provides complimentary two-way overnight shipping labels within New Zealand.

  • Important: Once a shipping label is issued, the ring must be dispatched and received by our studio within 15 business days.

Policy Terms, Conditions & Warranty Security

  • Warranty Protection: To maintain the exceptional quality standards aligned with the Mohs scale of durability, any structural modifications or sizing work must be executed exclusively by MOHSTEN. Resizing or altering your ring at an unauthorized third-party jeweller will instantly void your MOHSTEN Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty.

  • Design Limitations: Certain avant-garde or highly fluid designs, such as the Ohiwa Wrap or Torbay Split rings, feature unique architectural geometry. Sizing restrictions for these specific statement pieces will be detailed during your initial custom design consultation or listed within their online product profiles.

  • Remake Timelines: If a ring falls outside standard resizing capabilities and requires a complete setting remake, the process takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks to complete, matching our standard bespoke craft matrix.

FAQ

Q: How long does it take to resize a ring with MOHSTEN?

A:A standard ring resizing takes between 2 to 3 business weeks from the time the piece is securely received at our Auckland workshop. This timeline ensures our master goldsmiths can adjust the metal, reset any affected accent stones, and perfectly polish your piece back to its original brilliance.

Q: Where is the MOHSTEN studio located if I want an in-person ring sizing?

A:The private MOHSTEN boutique studio is located in the suburb of Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand. Visits and sizing consultations are strictly by appointment only to maintain an intimate, distraction-free luxury experience. BOOK HERE

Q: Can I resize a full-eternity diamond wedding band?

A:Due to diamonds being set continuously around the entire circumference of the band, full-eternity rings generally cannot be resized using traditional methods. If your full-eternity band does not fit, please reach out to our team within 12 months of purchase to discuss setting replacement or modification options.

Q: Will resizing my diamond engagement ring damage the stones or structure?

A:When executed by MOHSTEN’s expert goldsmiths, a standard resize will not damage your diamonds or compromise the band. We carefully inspect the tension of every claw and setting post-resize. However, attempting to resize a ring beyond its safe structural boundaries can weaken the piece, which is why we offer custom remakes for extreme size shifts.
