Our Brand
The name “MOHSTEN” is derived from the Mohs hardness scale, an important scale in mineralogy that measures the scratch resistance of various minerals. On this scale, diamonds stand at a perfect 10, representing the highest level of hardness and durability. This reference underscores our commitment to creating jewellery that embodies the pinnacle of quality, strength, and timeless beauty.
Our Story
In the vibrant corridors of a university visual art school, Jess and Hayley crossed paths, each carrying a deep-seated passion for jewellery design and goldsmithing. Their complementary skills, Hayley's contemporary jewellery design and visual arts background, and Jess's expertise in goldsmithing, sparked a 15-year friendship and a shared vision.
This journey led to the creation of MOHSTEN, a brand dedicated to redefining modern luxury in jewellery. Jess’s craftsmanship and knowledge of ethically sourced materials, combined with Hayley’s artistic vision, result in dynamic and innovative designs.
Our Studio
Tucked away within a private residence in Remuera, our studio is a hidden sanctuary. Elevated above the everyday, the space is designed to feel entirely separate, a curated world of its own where the MOHSTEN aesthetic truly breathes.
